The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans' organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans. The American Legion's four main pillars of service are: Veterans, Defense, Children & Youth, Americanism.
Donations:
Each year we donate approximately $20,000 back into our local community and veterans organizations. These include: Walcott Fire Dept, Walcott Day, Walcott Athletics, Walcott Jr. Panthers, Walcott Hearts & Hands, 5th Grade Essay Contest, College Scholarships, Walcott Calvary Preschool, Boys State, Camp Courageous, Camp Abe Lincoln, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Stand Down for Veterans, Combat Veterans, Helmets of Hope, Quad City Honor Flight, Tunnels to Towers, Quilts of Valor, Anonymously Grateful and Getting Heros Home.
